In my creative world, AI used to mean Adobe Illustrator. But lately, those two little letters have taken on a much bigger—and more complex—meaning.
Artificial Intelligence is everywhere. It’s creeping into every part of business, design, and marketing. So I wanted to take a moment to share my perspective.
Yes, AI is changing the landscape. Rapidly. And if you’re a business owner not even considering how to use it, you’re likely already falling behind. In some cases, it’s been a deciding factor in whether a business sinks or swims. It is a great time saver and I use AI everyday in my business.
But here’s what I do know for sure:
AI will never replace great designers or marketers.
You still need a creative eye. You still need someone who understands nuance, brand strategy, and how to craft a message that resonates. AI can’t replace the human touch it takes to truly get a business and tell its story.
Someone has to prompt the tool correctly. Someone has to know what the message is and how to deliver it. That’s where a strategic marketer and talented designer comes in. When used well, AI can be a powerful sidekick—but you still need an expert at the helm.
Now, using AI to generate illustrations? That’s another story. Personally, I find it a little… icky. Most AI art tools scrape the internet to create images based on real artists’ work—without credit or compensation. That is theft to me. Right now, I think you can still tell the difference between something AI-generated and something made by a human hand. But the lines are blurring.
What do you think?
